Rubbing shoulders and gaining pointers from some of boxing’s legends was what 147-pound star Shawn Porter called one of the greatest experiences in his fighting career.
Porter was able to spend time with some of his heroes at the annual WBC Convention, which was held December 14-19 at The Mirage in Las Vegas.
Among the legends of the fight game who Porter had a chance to share words with at the convention were Mike Tyson and Sugar Ray Leonard, which including Tyson telling Porter “You’ve got to get that belt back, man.”
Porter lost the IBF 147-pound title via majority decision to Kell Brook in August, and is now seeking a return to the top.
Porter also had an audience with heavyweight royalty, as former champions Riddick Bowe, Evander Holyfield and Lamon Brewster all visited Barry’s Boxing gym, not far from the Las Vegas Strip, to watch Porter train.
