Deontay Wilder has knocked out 33 of the 34 fighters brave enough to step in the ring with him. Now, the heavyweight champ is looking to KO his toughest opponent yet—with your help.
On March 20, 2005, Wilder’s oldest daughter, Naieya, was born with spina bifida, the most common permanently disabling birth defect in America, which frequently results in those afflicted being wheelchair-bound for life.
Naieya has persevered despite doctors initially telling her parents that she might never be able to walk, overcoming those odds and then some.
Having seen his daughter's struggles, Wilder wants to help others who are suffering from the birth defect do the same.
Currently, he’s attempting to raise at least $10,000 to give to the Spina Bifida Association by September 26, the day he defends his title against Johann Duhaupas in his home state of Alabama.
