Newly debuted 147-pound threat. Former 140-pound champion. Daddy.
Danny Garcia has added another line on his résumé with the birth of his daughter, Philly Swift Garcia, born August 15 to Garcia and his girlfriend, Erica Mendez.
The tale of the tape on Philly: 8 pounds, 9 ounces and 19 inches long.
“It’s an unexplainable feeling to be a father,” Garcia said. “Life feels a lot different since the moment she was born. I now have this beautiful angel to look after. I’ve never been so happy in my life.”
Still basking in a win in his 147-pound debut August 1 against Paulie Malignaggi, Garcia kept the good news coming—though he had the easy part. Erica went through 24 hours of labor.
As for “Philly Swift,” Garcia said, “I named her Philly Swift Garcia, because the beautiful city of Philadelphia made me who I am. I’ve been through sad and happy times in this city. It raised me to be the man and the champion that I am.”
Oh, and she has all 10 fingers and 10 toes—one less toe than her old man.
