Five years ago, Robert Guerrero temporarily left the sport of boxing to take care of his ailing wife, Casey, who was suffering from leukemia. She made a full recovery, but not all families are so fortunate. Now, Guerrero is helping out in the name of one that wasn’t.
On June 13, 2014, 12-year-old Caley Camarillo, who lived in Guerrero’s hometown of Gilroy, California, lost her battle with cystic fibrosis.
On the anniversary of her passing, Robert Guerrero will remember her by donating $100,000 to the BFC (Breathe For Caley) Foundation.
The BFC Foundation helps families with the financial struggles that come with caring for chronically ill children while granting kids a wish of their desire.
Guerrero will make his donation at a fundraising event, “Caley’s Carnival,” which is open to the public and will feature carnival rides, food and entertainment.
It takes place at noon Saturday and Sunday at Uesugi Farms Pumpkin Park in San Martin, California.
Guerrero will appear at the event both days and host a meet and greet from 1-4 p.m. Sunday.
