In a special double edition of Trainer Tuesday, Dan Birmingham shares what makes 147-pound world champion Keith Thurman so unique.
For more than a decade, Birmingham has been the head trainer for Thurman, taking over the reigns from legendary trainer Ben Getty, who unexpectedly passed away in 2009.
Under Birmingham’s tutelage, the 26-year-old Thurman has matured from a ferocious teenage puncher who dropped men twice his age during sparring into an all-around boxer entering the prime of his career.
Thurman makes his Premier Boxing Champions debut on NBC on Saturday, March 7 against Robert Guerrero at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
