The Moment for Chris Arreola came midway through the first round against Curtis Harper on Friday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California.
Arreola threw a thundering right hand that caught Harper’s jaw and sent him staggering backward to the canvas.
It was just one blow in a bout that had plenty of them throughout its eight rounds, but it was certainly the biggest.
After dominating that initial three minutes, Arreola had to overcome a valiant comeback from Harper, including a vicious right-left combination in the fourth round that had him teetering on the brink of being stopped himself.
Arreola regrouped and won the late rounds to earn a crowd-pleasing unanimous decision. That early knockdown, though, helped him win by scores of 76-75, 77-74 and 78-73 on the cards of Eddie Hernandez, Pat Russell and Fernando Villareal.
