Dana Jacobson, an acclaimed sports broadcast journalist and winner of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award, will host the monthly Premier Boxing Champions series on Spike TV.
Named one of radio's most influential women during her two years as a morning-show host, Jacobson spent nearly a decade at ESPN before leaving Connecticut for New York City.
There, Jacobson began her current tenure with CBS Sports Network, where she hosts studio shows for college football and basketball, serves as one of the panelists on the all-female sports show We Need To Talk and is also a reporter for The NFL Today.
"We are thrilled to have such an accomplished sports journalist with such an extensive background to host our highly anticipated and groundbreaking new boxing series" said Jon Slusser, Spike TV's senior vice president, sports and branded entertainment.
Jacobson began at ESPN as an anchor on SportsCenter, later filling the same role on ESPN First Take and Outside the Lines. She has also worked as both a sideline reporter and longtime host of the X Games nightly wrap-up show, XCenter.
Created by Haymon Boxing, the Premier Boxing Champions series will debut on Spike on March 13 with a 147-pound doubleheader.
The co-main event features two-time champion Andre Berto (29-3, 22 KOs) against Josesito Lopez (33-6, 19 KOs), and former champion Shawn Porter (24-1-1, 15 KOs) versus Roberto Garcia (36-3, 23 KOs) from Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California.
