Fans of Peter Quillin, Danny Garcia and Errol Spence Jr. took to online music streaming service Spotify and other social media to choose what songs the fighters will walk out to Saturday night at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. Sadly, none of them were "The Humpty Dance."
Fans of Danny Garcia kept him true to his Philadelphia roots with Meek Mill's "Monster." Mill, like Garcia, is North Philly born and bred, and Mill name-checks the neighborhood in the opening verse. Garcia fans picked the hometown rapper over a couple of New Yorkers: French Montana ("Don't Panic") and Troy Ave ("All About the Money.") Is this an Eagles-Giants thing? This feels like an Eagles-Giants thing.
Peter Quillin got his name from an old-school boxer in "Kid Chocolate," and he's old-school with his music. Fans got to pick from three stone-cold soul classics, and made a killer choice with Nina Simone's "Feeling Good." Birds flyin' high, you know how I feel? Probably pretty bad after taking a right cross from Quillin. Other choices? Brenton Wood's 1967 phenom "Gimme Little Sign" and Smokey Robinson and The Miracles' all-time great "The Tracks of My Tears." Which is what Quillin is hoping Andy Lee is trailing back to Ireland.
Supporters of up-and-comer Errol Spence went with what has to be one of the all-time most unexpected collaborations, the Kanye West/Paul McCartney jam "All Day." And we thought the obvious Kanye choices would be "Power," "Stronger" and "All Falls Down." Shows what we know. Spence's fans also got to choose from Big Sean's "Blessings" and Kevin Gates "I Don't Get Tired," but when you have the option to take the song that could potentially get Kim Kardashian ringside, you have to do it.
